A Waterplane

This is a postcard of unknown date with the handwriting to a Private Luff of Shoreham. It reads "... this waterplane was disabled and laid in front of our house for a week and I was there when this photo was taken. That is me underneath the cross.... regards from Spencer". Any detail on date, plane type, people would be welcome.
