Tram Road, late 1930s

Looking towards Harbour Road. On the left is Castle View, home of John Sharpey Saunders and family, who ran a poultry business in the village at this period. Further on, beyond the van, is the row of three Burnham’s Villas, constructed by George Burnham a builder and three times Mayor of Rye. After his death in 1931, they were sold off with sitting tenants.
