Terminal Groyne

The old concrete section is closest and the new concrete section can just be seen before the shingle. The rock armouring is to prevent the scouring effect of the sea.

I used to fish off the end of this groyne as a boy - in all weathers! Mark Wright (who now lives at Pett Level I believe) and I used to cycle down from Rye and spent many hours here. We also dug lug worm and caught shrimps - I still have a six foot shrimp net in my attic. Not that it is much use here in North Yorkshire!

As kids we used to climb up the far side of the groyne. There were a series of stepped platforms that can just be seen. These became progressively narower as you reached the top. A long way down and (looking back), very dangerous.
