Martello Tower

During WWII, my Uncle Jim from the RH Garage with his team of Royal Observers, used to stand watch atop the old Martello Tower, looking for enemy aircraft and Buzzbombs; then they would fire a 3 inch rocket parachute flare in the direction of the enemy alerting the RAF fighters of the threat.

We have stayed in the caravan park alongside the Martello tower in Rye Harbour, lovely....bit cold in March!!
