Martello Tower

An article entitled "The impact of the Napoloenic Wars on Romney Marsh" by Colonel Anthony TB Kimber is attached as a PDF. This was originally written for the Romney Marsh Research Trust's newsletter in Spring 2011.
Picture Added on 17 March 2006.

During WWII, my Uncle Jim from the RH Garage with his team of Royal Observers, used to stand watch atop the old Martello Tower, looking for enemy aircraft and Buzzbombs; then they would fire a 3 inch rocket parachute flare in the direction of the enemy alerting the RAF fighters of the threat.
