Rye Harbour Church plans

Samuel Sanders Teulon was the architect in 1849 and Charles Sydney Spooner extended the church in 1913.

Comments

This image has the familiar fault of many old engravings in as much as it is basically a "mirror image" of the church. Additionally I think this must be Spooner's view of the church with his extended chancel. When the church was eventually re-constructed around 1913 the roof line was the same height as the original roof. Inside however he excelled himself with the new chancel having a charming barrel vaulted appearance unlike the more agricultural original construction. Also the east end is now of an attractive curved construction, whereas this drawing indicates a rather boring flat elevation.
