Johnny Doughty

Johnny was a fishermen and also operated the ferry at Rye Harbour.
In later life he became famous as a folk singer.
He died in September 1986 at the age of 83.

Johnny was a guest at my wedding in 1968, my name was Maureen Marchant, my father was Cecil Marchant from camber, my mother's name was Grace Marchant (Grace Tillman) from Rye Harbour, both are deceased can anyone give me anymore information, thank-you.

I spent many hours recordings songs and stories from Johnny, some of which were used for an LP of his songs. Many of his songs are now available on various CDs. He was a great character and very willing to sing to me.
