You can see a Coastguard officer outside the house on the left, the Officer's House. Difficult to give a precise date but early part of 20th century

An ancestor of mine, William Newman became a coast guard after service in the Royal Navy. He lived in the cottages in 1862 aged 34 with his wife and 4 step-children one of whom was my grandmother.

My maternal Grandmother's husband, George JOHNS, was a Coast Guard at Rye Harbour in 1902 at the age of 34 years.
